A Little About Me

Lorena picked up her first book on the stars-the heavenly variety, not the denizens of Hollywood-at the age of three. Thus launched a path in science. By the time she was ten, she was a member of the Royal Astronomical Society.

She studied math and physics in university with scholarships paying her way through undergraduate years and worked in the physics department during the summers as a student research assistant. She attended graduate school on an NRC (National Research Council) scholarship, specializing in theoretical nuclear physics.

News of the suicide of a friend from undergraduate days had a profound effect on her while in grad school. With her M.Sc. completed and one and a half years into her Ph.D., she made the difficult decision to leave physics.

For the next decade of her life, she worked primarily as a researcher-writer in various fields of endeavor from computers to film. Then a series of personal crises unleashed in her life, culminating in an auto accident just at the time she was making a permanent move to Los Angeles.

It was that period of the dark night of the soul and her eventual painful emergence from it which ultimately propelled Lorena onto the spiritual path. It was what was necessary for though she had left physics, she still had the limited mindset and view of the universe which virtually all scientists have.

Lorena's primary spiritual path lies with the Eastern traditions. Buddhism, with its deep understanding of the mind and meditation practices, serves as her main interest and influence. She still maintains an active interest in science, though she now views it through the lens of wisdom. Through her studies and exploration in sacred geometry, she is discovering and uncovering the integral relationship of shape and pure proportion as the interconnectivity of all creation.
